If you are playing solo in Genshin Impact you can have up to 4 permanent characters in your party. If you are playing with a friend in multiplayer, you can have up to two permanent characters each. In a group of 4, you can have one character each. Each character has unique abilities, different progression options, different weapon types, and control over a certain element. How To Get Characters In Genshin Impact
Your primary source of unlocking new characters, at least at the beginning of the game, is to follow the main story. The main story provides you with multiple characters of different elements so you can respond to, and complete, most of the initial elemental challenges and objectives that stand in your path.
The other method is using Wishes. This feature doesn’t unlock until you reach the library in the main story. You’ll have some Wishes to use for free but after that, most of the Wishes you obtain will be through real money purchases on the in-game item shop.
Lastly, there are events. These are limited time events and offer different items on a regular basis so make sure to check them often to see if you’re able to unlock new characters to add to your party.
