There are many Mercenaries to battle in AC Odyssey, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, rewards and challenges.
The Mercenary system is introduced very early in AC Odyssey. A famous figure on the Kephallonia Islands, Talos the Stone Fist, is sent to hunt you down. You can either avoid or defeat him, the choice is yours. The Mercenary system in AC Odyssey is dynamic. This means that content and characters are generated for your individual story. The Mercenaries you fight, the items they have, the locations they are found, there is a level of randomness to all of it.

Unlocked: 1 Bounty Level, around Megaris

If you find yourself bombarded with Mercenaries, you can pay off the bounty on the map screen. Alternatively, head to the open seas. Mercs will still attack you on open water but ship to ship combat makes dispatching of them much easier and just as profitable.
