How To Change The Weather In Pokemon Sword & Shield

The weather in Pokemon Sword & Shield changes what Pokemon appear in the Wild Area. Check out this guide to find out how to change weather in Pokemon Sword & Shield. This will help you find the more rare Pokemon that are out there.

How To Change The Weather In Pokemon Sword & Shield

Despite the fact that there are moves that make it sunny in battle, or make in snow in battle, there is only one way to change the weather in Pokemon Sword & Shield. You need to change the system time on your Switch. This will not break your save or your Switch, but it is annoying. You need to go to your System Settings and scroll down to the System tab at the bottom. From there, click Date and Time and change the time zone you are in. You don’t even have to close your game to do it. Try to change it at least 2-3 hours to switch the weather. Be careful not to push it to far or you will make day night, or night day.

UPDATE: Various members of the community have found a way to have a single weather effect across the entire Wild Area region. Check the dates below to get the desired weather for the Pokemon you’re tracking down. Reminder, Fog and Sandstorms are unlocked through game progress so they will not work if you haven’t progressed far enough in the story.

  • Hail (1st February, 2020)
  • Cloudy (March 1st, 2020)
  • Sandstorm (1st April, 2020)
  • Clear (May 1st, 2020)
